About Social Services
At Cincinnati Children's, our clinical social workers understand
that managing any type of illness or hospitalization is a stressful
experience. As members on every medical team, the clinical social
workers provide ongoing support and counseling, crisis
intervention, advocacy, education, and connection to community
resources.
Who We Are
The clinical social workers are all licensed professionals who
provide specialized expertise on the medical teams. We are guided
by our core values which include promotion of self-determination,
dignity and respect for all beliefs and cultures, and supporting
the strengths of patients and families in their pursuit of health
and wellbeing. There are over 150 clinical social workers within
the Social Service Division at Cincinnati Children's serving
patients and families through their inpatient hospitalization(s)
and providing ongoing services in the outpatient settings.
What We Do
Families and caregivers with children that are coping with a
medical condition can experience difficulties and hardships that
impact their emotional, social, and financial well-being. Families
and caregivers may also find challenges as they navigate through
the complex medical system. Our clinical social workers provide
comprehensive services to assist patients & families through their
journey. The clinical social worker can assist with topics such
as:
* Emotional support and counseling
* Family issues or conflicts
* A new diagnosis
* Crisis intervention
* Care coordination and treatment planning with the medical
team
* Discharge coordination
* Grief, loss, or end of life issues
* Safety concerns
* Access to community resources
* Resources to address financial difficulties
About Oncology:
The Division of Oncology is part of the Cancer and Blood Diseases
Institute. The Division of Oncology is a nationally recognized
expert in the development of new therapies for pediatric cancers,
leading new clinical trials through the Children's Oncology Group,
the NCI Phase I/Pilot Consortium, and the Department of
Defense-funded Neurofibromatosis Consortium.
Schedule: 32 hours per week, 8AM-4:30PM -- Monday, Tuesday,
Thursday, Friday, off on Wednesdays.
* Please note the salary posted below is based on working 40 hours
per week. The Social Worker job is salaried. To give perspective,
the hourly start rate is $28.58, or $59,446.40 annually. Thus 32
hours/week salary range for this part-time job is $47,557.12 -
$67,808.00.
