Job Overview:
Jungle Jim's Pharmacy in Fairfield, OH is a mail order compounding
pharmacy with a hybrid retail and mail order model. The role of the
pharmacist in this setting is multifaceted and the ideal candidate
will possess the ability to adapt to change, collaborate with team
members through use of impeccable leadership and communication
skills and serve as a mentor to less experience staff.
Shift Overviews:
1st Shift: operates akin to a retail pharmacy
2nd Shift: follows a hybrid workflow with the first half of the
shift mirroring retail pharmacy and the second half of the shift as
a closed-door mail order facility.
3rd Shift: operates as a closed-door mail order facility
Responsibilities:
1st Shift and 2nd Shift Pharmacists: Communicate expectations
during start of shift huddle in the absence of a Lead
Technician.
Serve as a resource to technicians in both problem solving and
assignment of roles.
Pre-check prescriptions before fill to ensure accuracy and
appropriateness (PV1).
Check of filled prescriptions according to legal and professional
standards (PV2).
Provide clear instructions to patients regarding medication use,
dosage, and potential side effects.
Train/mentor new members that join the team and provide regular
feedback on performance and expectations.
Guide staff at end of shift in preparing the facility for shift
change to ensure the incoming shift's team members start their day
with a tidy and well-stocked workspace.
3rd Shift Pharmacists: Communicate expectations during start of
shift huddle.
Serve as a resource to technicians in both problem solving and
assignment of roles.
Train/mentor new members that join the team and provide regular
feedback on performance and expectations.
Support the compounding teams through monitoring compounding
technicians when on site during third shift.
Assist team in completing all tasks in the workflow as needed based
on daily shift volume.
Oversee the fulfillment and shipping process and assist staff with
making supply runs and rotating/restocking supplies as needed.
Communicate with management regarding any needs, issues or
inventory requests that arise during day-to-day operations.
Guide staff at end of shift in preparing the facility for shift
change to ensure the incoming shift's team members start their day
with a tidy and well-stocked workspace.
Administrative Tasks: Maintain accurate records of medications
dispensed and patient profiles.
Manage pharmacy inventory, ensuring medications are stored properly
and securely.
Comply with regulatory requirements and pharmacy policies.
Ensure patient confidentiality and privacy in accordance with
healthcare laws.
Research and Professional Development: Stay informed about new
drugs, treatments, and medical research.
Engage in continuing education to maintain licensure and expand
clinical knowledge.
Mentor pharmacy students or residents.
Skills and Qualifications:
Education: Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree from an accredited
pharmacy school.
Licensure: State licensure as a pharmacist.
Core competencies include: Strong knowledge of pharmacology,
pharmacokinetics, and pharmacotherapy.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Attention to detail and accuracy in medication dispensing and
patient counseling.
Ability to work independently and as part of a healthcare team.
Problem-solving skills to address medication-related issues.
Proficiency in pharmacy software and electronic health records
(EHR).
Commitment to ethical standards and patient safety.
Physical Requirements (with or without accommodations):
Ability to stand for extended periods.
Ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds.
Ability to see, read and interpret hand-written and faxed
materials
Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
