Job Description:
The Kentucky College of Art and Design ("KyCAD") is seeking a
Director of Financial Aid to fulfill a role instrumental to the
creation of a successful, supportive, student-focused federal
Financial Aid department at the growing College. Reporting directly
to the Chief Financial Officer, the Director of Financial Aid
provides financial aid services to students at KyCAD. This position
focuses on fulfilling the core responsibilities associated with
screening students for financial aid eligibility, providing
guidance to students, families and KyCAD personnel in the area of
federal financial aid.Responsibilities
- Is an instrumental leader in the design and establishment of a
robust and supportive Financial Aid department at the College.
- Provides leadership and program management over student
financial aid and financial planning at KyCAD.
- Assesses student and parent application data for federal aid
sources.
- Assesses student eligibility cases on a varied spectrum of
complexity, making professional judgements and recommendations in
accordance with federal statutes.
- Conducts verification of student and parent application data in
compliance with federal aid criteria.
- Follows federal guidelines and criteria, conducts need analysis
of students and parents in order to determine the relative
eligibility of federal aid applicants.
- Conducts packaging of student aid according to institutional,
state, and federal guidelines and requirements.
- Monitors and keeps records of individual student awards,
maintaining appropriate documentation within internal data
management systems.
- Provides financial aid counseling to students, parents, and
family members in accordance with the financial aid process and
individual needs.
- Monitors and evaluates academic progress of students for
successful fulfilment of eligibility requirements for financial aid
awards.
- Communicates professionally and effectively with state and
federal agencies, loan servicers, lenders, guarantee agencies,
vendors, employers, social service agencies, high schools,
post-secondary institutions, and other outside entities associated
with the student financial aid and awards process.
- Participates in the development and enforcement of
institutional policies and procedures that help to cultivate an
efficient and effective program and department of student aid and
financial planning.
- Participates in training, networking, and professional
development activities in order to maintain awareness of updates to
new regulations and information to be utilized in the development
of the College's financial aid department.
- Other duties as assigned.Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from a higher education institution
(preferred).
- Minimum 3 years of experience in the administration of
financial aid services, primarily at a college or university
level.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to provide exceptional customer service to students and
parents.
- Proficiency with college management/data management systems
utilized in the administration of federal financial aid and student
records.The ideal candidate will have the ability to perform the
work as outlined in the position description and responsibilities
sections above.This position requires the ability to lift 30lbs
(approx.) and must be able to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise
